Hello, I’m Laurel Proulx, a budding animator from Ottawa. I’m bilingual, being fluent in both English and French, both spoken and written. I’ve been drawing for as long as I could remember, and have always been fascinated by the world of animation, more specifically with the passionate storytelling involved in animation. My dream is to be part of the production of the same kind of movies and shows i grew up with, meeting talented peers and learning from each step of the process.

I studied and graduated from Algonquin college’s animation program in 2025, focusing on 2D animation and storyboards, taking on a short film project (which will be out soon!) I’ve worked in Toon boom software like Harmony 24 and Storyboard pro 24, as well as Photoshop and Autodesk Maya. I have a specialization in 2D rigged animation and traditional animation, and have experience in 3D animation, 3D modeling, layout, and design as well.

Outside of the studio, I enjoy lots of hobbies, my biggest being aquascaping (aquarium gardening). It’s very relaxing, and taught me to be patient, detailed oriented, and to learn from my mistakes. There’s a lot of effort that goes into fishkeeping, and through my experiences I’ve learned things about biology, chemistry, and engineering. I can apply these thing to my hobby, while most people forget them after 12th grade science.
